SOMERS POINT, N.J. (WPVI) -- Firefighters battled a fire at the Somers Point Apartments in Atlantic County early Monday.

It broke out before 5:00 a.m. Monday at the facility in the unit block of Mays Landing Road.

Fire officials tell Action News the multi-alarm fire caused a partial roof collapse in one of the buildings.

Eight apartments were damaged.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Fire crews say a fire wall stopped the blaze from spreading even further.

Investigators were working to determine what sparked the fire.

The Southern Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross was providing emergency assistance to at least four families.
