GARNET VALLEY, Pa. (WPVI) -- Firefighters battled a house fire in Garnet Valley, Delaware County.

The fire started around 10 a.m. Saturday inside an attached garage along the 1600 block of Hance Lane.

Officials say several small explosions helped to spread the flames throughout the house.

The homeowner was at the store when the fire broke out, officials say. He returned home to flames showing at his property.

Witnesses told Action News fire crews rescued two cats from the burning home.

No word on what caused the blaze.
