AMBLER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Officials say a two-alarm fire forced several residents from an apartment building in Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania early Friday morning.

The fire broke out just before 2:00 a.m. at The Woods, an apartment complex in the 700 block of West Lincoln Drive.

Firefighters arrived to heavy flames showing from one of the apartments.

They say a resident was out on the balcony, screaming for help.

She went back into the apartment and firefighters were able to get her out safely.

The blaze quickly went to two alarms.

Crews immediately began other rescues and evacuations as they focused on the roof area.

It took them about 35 minutes to place the fire under control.

One woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There was no immediate word on that person's condition.

In all, it was a frightening night for residents.

One man told Action News he awoke to banging on his door.

"We were sleeping, and police banged on our door and told us to get out," said Andrew Donnon. "The building was on fire."

Donnon told Action News he had been planning to move out of the complex Saturday and wasn't sure what he would be able to take with him.

The Red Cross is assisting five families.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
