NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- The pilot of a medical helicopter killed in a crash last week was laid to rest on Friday.

Michael Murphy, 37, was killed when his chopper crashed in an industrial park in New Castle County, Delaware.

Family and friends honored his life at the Christ the Redeemer Church in Atco, New Jersey.

Murphy was the pilot of a PennSTAR helicopter registered to the University of Pennsylvania.

Authorities say Murphy was conducting a training flight at the time.

Police say the helicopter crashed into a ditch behind a U.S. Post office facility, causing minor damage to an outbuilding and vehicles parked behind the building.

No patients or employees were on board, and no one on the ground was injured.

Murphy was conducting training in the area at the time of the crash.

He leaves behind a pregnant wife and a two year old son.
