Hazmat situation in Conshohocken
A hazmat situation in West Conshohocken that led to a small leak in the Schuylkill River is under control.

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A hazmat situation in West Conshohocken that led to a small leak in the Schuylkill River is under control.

Emergency crews received calls of a gas odor around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

It happened in the unit block of Balligomingo Road near a tree service company.

The George Clay Fire Company arrived and found a petroleum based material leaking into a storm drain and ultimately into the Schuylkill river.

Montgomery County Hazmat was called in and the leak was contained.

The area has since been deemed safe.
