Homicide victim shot multiple times in Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Gunfire claimed the life of a person in Trenton early Thursday.

Shots rang out in the 200 block of East Hanover Street at midnight.

Police say the victim was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators were checking a vehicle found near the shooting scene for clues.

The killing comes as police step up their presence in Trenton, targeting high-crime areas and focusing on guns, drugs and hard-core criminals.
