A photo op no one ever expected is making its rounds on social media.

A photo opp no one ever expected is making its rounds on social media.

The picture is of a passenger and the Egyptian man who hijacked an airplane - and so far it's been seen by millions.

The British hostage is now speaking out, explaining exactly what he was thinking while taking a picture with a hijacker.

26-yar-old Ben Innes says he wanted "the selfie of a lifetime."

He told The Sun newspaper he got one of the crew members to translate the request for him, and the hijacker shrugged "ok."

"I'm not sure why I did it, I just threw caution to the wind while trying to stay cheerful in the face of adversity," said Innes.

He had been texting his mom throughout the ordeal and says he figured he had nothing to lose - unless, of course, the bomb was real.

Thankfully, the suicide vest was a fake and made of cell phone covers.
