One person is dead and another hospitalized after a shooting at a security company in Moorestown, New Jersey.

It happened just after 7:00 a.m. Monday at Shields Business Solutions in the unit block of Twosome Drive in Moorestown.

Police say just as two workers were beginning to start their shift, 42-year-old Edgar Figueroa, of Philadelphia, pulled out a gun and shot his coworker, Melvin Nieves, multiple times.

Lt. Lee Lieber of the Moorestown Police Department explains, "We're being told by witnesses that Mr. Figueroa came up behind him as they were leaving the building and actually tried to shoot him in the head, and Mr. Nieves jerked at the last minute, fortunately, and that first bullet just grazed him. But then he was struck by three more rounds."

The wounded 31-year-old ran outside.

Figueroa followed, but then killed himself in the rear of the property.

Nieves, who is from Philadelphia's Bustleton section, was taken by medical helicopter to Cooper University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

According to sources, the motive for the shooting appears to stem from a love triangle involving Figueroa, Nieves, and another woman.

Shields Business Solution provides ATM and armored car services, and their employees are armed. Guns are allowed on premises, but there is a check in policy.

Police say it appears Nieves was unarmed.

Shields Business Solutions released the following statement late this morning:

"An unspeakable tragedy unfolded here this morning and, first and foremost, we'd like the families of those involved to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them. To our employees, we want to reiterate that their safety is our absolute priority. In order to provide support to our employees today and throughout the week, we have engaged a grief counselor who will be available here at our offices. At this point, this situation is a police matter, and we are working with the Moorestown Police Department. All inquiries should be directed to Moorestown Police."
