NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say robbery was the motive for a deadly shooting in North Philadelphia.
It happened at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of North Orkney Street.
Officers arrived to find 49-year-old Juan Cruz shot in the lower back and hip.
He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead 20 minutes later.
Action News is told the nearby Potter-Thomas School was locked down for about half an hour as a precaution.
