WYNNEFIELD (WPVI) -- A 22-year-old man was shot and critically wounded while sitting in his car on the 2000 block of N. 56th Street in Philadelphia's Wynnefield neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim was able to tell police he was outside a friend's home when someone came up and started shooting.

Images from the Action Cam showed several bullet holes in the windshield of the car on both the driver's and passenger's side.

"We found at least 8 strike marks in the vehicle that the victim was sitting in. Several of the strike marks went through the front windshield. Other strike marks were in the hood above the engine of the vehicle," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The victim was shot multiple times in the arm and torso. Action News is told one bullet narrowly missed his heart.

He is in critical condition, but is expected to survive.

Police have not released a possible motive or description of the shooter.

They are reviewing surveillance footage as the investigation continues.
