Authorities have arrested a Burlington City man they say viciously attacked his ex-girlfriend to death inside her Mt. Holly home.

MT. HOLLY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Authorities have arrested a Burlington City man they say stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death inside her Mt. Holly home.

Thirty-eight-year-old Rashon Causey was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday inside a home on the 100 block of Elm Avenue.

Causey is accused of fatally stabbing Shanai Marshall, 37, in her home in the unit block of West Monroe Street late Monday night.

Officials say Causey and Marshall had a child together.

Detectives say Causey forced his way into her home, and stabbed her several times.

The victim was flown to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton following the attack where she died from her injuries Wednesday afternoon.

An autopsy concluded the manner of death was homicide and the cause was a stab wound to the head.

He has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree burglary, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

His bail was set at $1,050,000 with no 10 percent permitted.
