A 37-year-old man was killed in a house fire in Philadelphia's Tioga-Nicetown section.

TIOGA-NICETOWN (WPVI) -- A 37-year-old man was killed in a house fire in Philadelphia's Tioga-Nicetown section.

The fire broke out before 12:30 a.m. Thursday on the the 1900 block of Brunner Street.

Heavy flames were found on the first floor when firefighters arrived.

It took crews about fifteen minutes to get the blaze under control.

The victim was found on the first floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire commissioner says they found no working smoke alarms in the home.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
