NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA -- A man was sentenced on animal cruelty charges after an emaciated dog was found in Northeast Philadelphia.

'Santa Paws' was rescued back in December, looking primarily like skin and bones.

On Friday, 34-year-old Jeffery Collins pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.

He was sentenced to 24 months of probation and must pay the Pennsylvania SPCA $5,100 in restitution.

The SPCA spent months nursing Santa Paws back to health.

The dog is now healthy and happy and also has a brand new home.
