Tears, gratitude when man meets N.J. officer who saved his mother's life
EVESHAM TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- There were hugs and tears Friday night as Evesham Township Police Officer Bryan Strockbine met the grateful son of a woman he saved after a vicious attack.
"He gave back my mom who I can say, 'I love you' to," said Pete Corelli of Evesham Township.
"People call 911 for help," said Strockbine. "Sorry. I'm an emotional guy."
But on the job, Strockbine keeps his cool.
He was named Evesham Township Officer of the Month for March after saving three lives in just 10 days.
Pete Corelli's mom was reportedly deceased when Strockbine responded. After 3 minutes of CPR, she began breathing.
"Because the day could have been horrific, and as tragic as it was because of Strockbine, as emotional as you saw him earlier, he pulled up to the scene and it was business as usual," said Corelli.
It was the first time Strockbine saved a life in his 12-year career, but it wouldn't be his last.
Days later, he revived another woman who wasn't breathing, and days after that pulled a driver from a car that was about to catch fire.
"It's amazing. It's amazing. Somehow I was in the right place at the right time. Several times in a short time period," said Officer Strockbine.
Strockbine doesn't take all the credit, and says his department is full of men and women who would have done the same.
"We don't do it for recognition. We do it because it's our job and we care, and when you have such an amazing outcome, it's a special place in my heart that will be there forever," said Strockbine.
