Man,18, killed in dirt bike crash in Hunting Park

HUNTING PARK (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a fatal accident in Hunting Park involving a dirt bike.

It happened shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday on the 3800 block of Whitaker Avenue.

Police say the 18-year-old driver of a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling south on Whitaker when he attempted to go around a box truck which was turning onto Erie Avenue.

The dirt bike driver lost control, hit two parked cars and ended up under the rear passenger side of the truck.

Medics transported the man to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver's name has not been released.

The 31-year-old truck driver was not hurt.
