Middletown High students bake cookies alongside vets
MIDDLETOWN, Del. (WPVI) -- Students at Middletown High School in Delaware baked cookies side-by-side with veterans on Tuesday.
The 25 students were joined by guest baker Major General Francis Vavala, the Army National Guard Officer who serves as Adjutant General for the State of Delaware.
The hundreds of cookies made during Tuesday's marathon baking session will be donated to Operation Cookie Dropoff for the troops.
Here's how you can get involved with Operation Cookie Dropoff:
-Drop off homemade or store-bought cookies at one of the designated collection sites in Delaware listed below.
-Cookies should arrive packed in square storage containers (8x8) or laid flat in gallon-size freezer bags. Don't overfill or they'll crumble.
-Donate heavy duty shipping boxes 18X20 or 20x20 and shipping peanuts.
-Make a contribution to help defer shipping costs.
