A mother and her 4-year-old son jumped from a second-floor window to escape their burning home in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A mother and her 4-year-old son jumped from a second-floor window to escape their burning home in West Philadelphia.

The fire started around midnight Saturday along the 1400 block of North 61st Street.

Firefighters arrived to flames shooting from the home, and the mother and child lying on the sidewalk.

Both victims suffered burns as well as cuts and bruises from the fall.

They were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital for treatment.

It took fire crews 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
