NEW YORK CITY (WPVI) -- The NYPD has stepped in with an act of kindness for a boy who desperately needed one. After 7-year-old Tyrone Lowe was orphaned by domestic violence, several officers went above and beyond to make him smile.

His father killed his mother and then took his own life last December.

Tyrone witnessed the crime.

The NYPD banded together to raise money for the youngster.

Officers put $5,000 into a college fund, and are paying for him to go to Disney World.

Disney is the parent company of 6abc.
