An off-duty crossing guard was struck in South Philadelphia.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An off-duty crossing guard was struck while crossing a street in South Philadelphia.

It happened around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday on the 100 block of Snyder Avenue.

Police say the 70-year-old woman was attempting to cross the street when she was hit by a freight liner truck, which was attempting to make a turn onto Snyder.

Medics rushed her to Hahnemann University Hospital with a broken thigh bone.

There is no word yet on her condition.

The investigation continues.
