2 cops credited for rescuing baby from car in Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police are crediting two officers for rescuing a baby from a parked car on Thursday morning in Camden, New Jersey.

Authorities say Officer Belinda Villegas-Ramos was working a detail at the TD Bank on MLK Boulevard around 11:30 a.m. when she was alerted to a car parked at the nearby CVS with a baby inside.

The 5-month-old was screaming and sweating profusely, authorities say.

With the help of Officer Joseph McGrath, the two cops smashed a window, got inside to get the baby out, and held child until medics arrived.

The baby was treated at Cooper University Hospital and released to the custody of the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

The baby's mother, 30-year-old Deonna Moore of Sicklerville, was arrested and charged with child endangerment.

Police say she also had four outstanding warrants.

She was taken to the Camden County Jail with bail set at $50,000 cash or bond.
