Police officer, civilian hospitalized after crash in North Philadelphia

A police officer and a civilian were taken to area hospitals after a crash involving a police cruiser in North Philadelphia.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A police officer and a civilian were taken to area hospitals after a crash involving a police cruiser in North Philadelphia.

It happened before 11:30 a.m. Monday at 22nd Street and Montgomery Avenue.

Police tell Action News the patrol car was responding to a call when it collided with another vehicle.

Video from Chopper 6 HD showed the police car with some front end damage.

A red minivan with significant side damage was parked some distance away.

The 22nd District police officer was taken to Roxborough Hospital to be evaluated.

The civilian was treated by medics at the scene and taken to another hospital for unspecified injuries.
