A Philadelphia police officer who survived an ambush shooting while on the job was chosen to throw out the first pitch at the Philadelphia Phillies home opener on Monday.

Jesse Hartnett's arm was shattered by gunfire in January.

He has made an amazing recovery so far, but still has a long way to go.

There have been several fundraisers for Officer Hartnett since the shooting.

He will be on the mound Monday afternoon before the Phillies take on the San Diego Padres at 3:05.
