A pedestrian is hospitalized after being struck by an SUV just as a Christmas parade was about to start in Cape May County.

LOWER TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A pedestrian is hospitalized after being struck by an SUV just as a Christmas parade was about to start in Cape May County.

It happened at 7 p.m. Saturday in the 3400 block of Bayshore Road.

That's near the starting point of the 34th annual Christmas Parade organized by the Lower Township Rotary Club.

Police say the victim was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment.

There was no immediate word on that person's condition.

Lower Township Police were working to determine what led to the incident.
