ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer completed his 30-day, 3,000-mile bike journey across the country Saturday in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Officer Anthony Case, who works in the 22nd District, was inspired to complete the ride after his colleague, Sgt. Robert Wilson III, was shot and killed in the line of duty.

He started his journey back on May 17 in Venice Beach, California.

Saturday afternoon he reached the Atlantic at the Land Shark Bar.

"I started out, I thought it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Officer Case. "It ends up being a life-changing experience for sure."

Case was aiming to raise $5,000 for the Survivors Fund, which helps out the families of those killed in the line of duty.

To date, he's raised more than $17,000.
