Police in Christiana, Delaware say a driver was texting on his cell phone prior to crashing into a house.

CHRISTIANA, Del. (WPVI) -- Police in Christiana, Delaware say a driver was texting on his cell phone prior to crashing into a house.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the unit block of Archer Circle in the community of Woodland Trails for the report of a car into a house.

Police say the 23-year-old driver was traveling on Opus Drive driving towards Taylor Drive.

While operating the vehicle, he was reportedly texting on his cell phone.

Police say the driver then proceeded to miss the turn onto Taylor Drive and subsequently drove onto a grassy yard area, over a short chain link fence, and into the rear of the home.

No injuries were reported after a driver crashed into a home in Christiana, Delaware.

No one was in the home at the time of the crash.

The New Castle County Building Inspector responded to the scene and deemed the home uninhabitable.

The Delaware Red Cross was contacted to offer assistance to the homeowner.

The 23-year-old driver was issued citations for using an electronic communication device while operating a motor vehicle and inattentive driving.

He was released from the scene.
