Detectives say a fetus was found at a Camden recycling plant.

CAMDEN (WPVI) -- Police tell Action News that a dead fetus was found at a Camden recycling plant.

Officers responded to ReCommunity Camden, a recycling plant on the 2200 block of Mount Ephraim Avenue, after an employee discovered the deceased fetus on a conveyor belt at approximately 3:00 p.m.

The disturbing find happened at the end of the plant's first shift as employees sifted through the tons of recyclables gathered from that day.

The plant receives pickups from parts of Camden and Gloucester counties.

Action News has learned that employees were asked to compile a list of township vehicles that made drop-offs at the plant between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.

Detectives were not immediately able to determine the gender of the fetus.

The cause and manner of death are unknown at this time. An autopsy is planned for Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Camden County Prosecutor's Office Detective Edwin Berwick at (856) 225-8694 or Camden County Police Detective Saul Cintron at (856) 757-7420.
