Police investigate death of woman found during festival in Society Hill

SOCIETY HILL -- Police are searching for answers to how a woman died in Philadelphia's Society Hill neighborhood.

Officers responded around 10:30 a.m. Saturday after several 911 calls about the woman.

She was found on the 500 block of South 5th Street.

Medics arrived and treated the woman, but she died at the scene.

The discovery was made as the South Street Spring Festival was taking place less than a block away.

Police are calling the woman, believed to be in her 50s, a "Jane Doe."

The cause of death is under investigation
