Police: Man breaks through wall in burglary attempt

OLD CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who burglarized a restaurant in Old City over the weekend.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning at the Xian Cuisine Restaurant located at 120 Chestnut Street.

The burglar broke into the restaurant through a rear brick wall just before 3 a.m.

Once inside, he was caught on surveillance spending some time trying to break into the cash register while helping himself to an alcoholic beverage.

Police say he was interrupted by the restaurant owner but managed to escape after a brief struggle.

He was last seen heading south on 2nd Street.

The burglar is described as a Hispanic male with a thin build, 30 to 40 years-old and 5'6" to 5'9" tall.
