HOUSTON (WPVI) -- Two police officers on patrol near Austin, Texas are getting a lot of credit for helping a family in need.

They stopped a car at a gas station because it had three small children and no car seats.

Instead of issuing the driver a citation, the partners talked to other officers, and they all pooled together money to buy three new car seats.

"They're trying to get things going. They're going in the right direction and to issue them three citations for each children, would just devastate them," said Officer Justin Gower from the Cedar Park Police Department.

"Money's not the issue, it's the issue of can you help them, and so that was the easiest way that we saw, the fastest path to helping them," said Officer Cale Hawkins.

This was the second time the officers had stopped the dad for the same issue.

The family didn't want to be interviewed, but is calling the officers a blessing.
