WASHINGTON, D.C. (WPVI) -- College reporters got a surprise while attending a student briefing at the White House with press secretary Josh Earnest.

President Obama crashed the event yesterday.

He spoke briefly about new federal help for student loan payments.

During a question-and-answer session, a Rutgers student used the chance to ask the president for an interview for the school newspaper.

The president told the sophomore he'd give him some "play."
