Police say a shooting victim driving himself to the hospital crashed an SUV into a tractor-trailer in Philadelphia's Tioga-Nicetown section.

Police say the shooting took place less than two miles from the crash at Greene and Manheim streets.

The victim was trapped inside the vehicle, and rescuers had to cut him out of the tangled metal.

Medical personnel discovered he had been shot in the left torso and right arm.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

Police believe drugs played a factor in the shooting.
