A family in Wilmington is making a desperate plea after their special needs dog was stolen from their front yard.

WOODLAND HEIGHTS, Del. (WPVI) -- A special needs dog that was stolen from the front yard of a Wilmington family's home has been located.

Shadow, who has a dog microchip, was found roaming in Parkesburg, Pa.

The dog's owner, Diana Davis, told Action News someone snatched Shadow on Nov. 8 from her elderly parents' yard in Woodland Heights, Delaware.

Davis' father said he heard a car pull up to the house. When he went outside, Shadow was gone and his leash was on the ground.

Because Shadow is deaf and partially blind, the family was concerned he may be dumped somewhere.

"I think it's pretty sad if you can't leave your pet outside. Shadow is not a pet for us. He's a family member, and we just want to get him back safe and sound," said Davis.

The family posted flyers around the neighborhood, and offered a reward for the safe return of Shadow.
