Dashcam video caught an unidentified employee taking a Gurnee couple's car on a 96 mph joyride.

GURNEE, Ill. -- An Illinois couple is crying foul after their car was taken for a nearly 100 mph joyride during a routine service visit.

Drew Hovorka said he checked his Dodge Caliber SRT4's dashcam video out of curiosity this week when the car was returned from its 100,000 mile service appointment, according to the Daily Herald.

The 8 1/2 minute video shows an unidentified employee from Gurnee Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram taking the performance car up to 96 mph on Stearns School Road near Grandwood Park.

"This is not normal," Christine Hovorka said. "Thankfully, we had the camera."

Illinois' eavesdropping law would not protect the employee in this case, according to Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim.

"No, you don't have an expectation of privacy with somebody else's car," Nerheim told the Daily Herald.

The Hovorkas say the video will make them rethink where they take their car for future service.

The dealership's general manager did not return messages seeking comment on the video.
