A 31-year-old man has turned himself in to police for a fatal shooting and kidnapping in Salem County.

PENNS GROVE, NJ (WPVI) -- A 31-year-old man has turned himself in to police for a fatal shooting and kidnapping in Salem County.

Hakeem Williams was arraigned on charges of homicide, kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Police say Williams shot and killed a 24-year-old man around 4 p.m. Saturday in Penns Grove.

It happened near Broad and Church streets. The victim was hit multiple times with gunfire.

Medics rushed him to Memorial Hospital of Salem County, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say after the shooting, Williams drove off in the victim's Volkswagen Jetta with the man's one-year-old child inside.

Williams abandoned the vehicle at 5th and Wood streets in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties section, police say, and left the child in the car.

The toddler is fine.

Williams is being held on $1 million bail.
