Philadelphia police say an officer shot a suspect who pointed a gun following a traffic stop in Olney.

OLNEY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say an officer shot a suspect who pointed a gun following a traffic stop in Olney.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators say it all began when the officer pulled over a minivan.

That's when, police say, the suspect jumped out the vehicle and ran.

The officer chased him to 4th Street and Lindley Avenue where the suspect pulled out a gun.

The officer then shot the suspect.

The suspect was taken to Einstein Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

No officers were hurt.
