Investigators say Christopher Unruh set a 2-story home in Talleyville on fire Monday.

TALLEYVILLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A Wilmington man has been charged with setting Monday's fire in Talleyville that killed a family's cat.

Christopher Unruh of West 22nd Street in Wilmington is charged with 3rd degree arson and reckless endangering.

He was arrested after the state fire marshal determined Monday morning's blaze in the unit block of Weldin Park Drive was intentionally set.

The 2-alarm fire broke out at 6:30 a.m.

Fire officials say the heat was so intense it burned the siding off a neighboring home.

The 54-year-old homeowner was treated at the scene for dizziness.

Action News was told the family's cat perished in the blaze.

The fire caused approximately $250,000 in damage to the 2-story residence.

There was no immediate word why the blaze was intentionally set.

Unruh is free after posting $7,000 bail.
