Synagogue in Tacony vandalized again

TACONY (WPVI) -- A window was broken at a synagogue in the Tacony section of Philadelphia, in what is the latest incident of vandalism involving the building.

In this case, someone threw a baseball-sized rock through a stained glass window at Temple Menorah Keneseth Chai on Sunday afternoon.

A large hole in the window could be seen on Monday morning.

This is the third such incident since December. In the first case, a rock was thrown through a window as well.

In the next incident, in January, eight rocks were thrown through windows.

Both of those incidents occurred on a Friday, the start of the Jewish Sabbath. Synagogue President Malcolm Adler does not believe that's a coincidence.

"It's my opinion that we're being targeted, because no other church in the neighborhood has broken stained glass windows. We're the only ones," he said.

While there's nothing to indicate that all three cases are linked, synagogue officials are optimistic that this investigation is moving in the right direction.

They have a message for the vandals behind this.

"When we find you we're going to go to the full extent of the law and prosecute," said Adler.

Surveillance cameras captured the incident, Action News is told, and the video is "very clear." While the video hasn't been released, we are told the suspects appear to be caucasian, and may be minors.

A $10,000 reward for information regarding the vandalism at the synagogue still stands.
