Thieves steal rare monkeys from zoo in France

A zoo in France is appealing to the public for help in finding 17 rare and endangered monkeys, stolen over the weekend.

Authorities say, the thieves knew what they were doing.

The bandits cut through the fence surrounding the primate habitat and covered a surveillance camera.

Officials estimate the theft at $228,000.

The zoo director is concerned about the animals' well-being and said they must be found quickly.
