PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Approximately 40,000 runners made their way down Broad Street Sunday morning to throngs of cheering fans for the 38th annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run.

The ten-mile trek down Broad Street draws seasoned runners and first time racers alike. There's just something about being part of this Philadelphia tradition.

The race began at 8 a.m. at West Fischer in Olney.

From there, the crowds traveled south, passing through neighborhoods, by city landmarks, toward the finish line at the Navy Yard.

From the water stops to the signs and voices, the cheers helped fuel the runners to the finish line.

Some were running for a cause, others for themselves.

Here are your male and female winners:

23-year-old Dominic Korir of White Plains MD, 47:38

30-year-old Askale Merachi, Bronx NY, 53:49

The full results can be found on the Broad Street Run's website.
