EVESHAM TWP. -- Evesham Township in Burlington County is teaming up with Uber to curb drunk driving.

The pilot program offers residents a free ride from select bars and restaurants to homes in Evesham.

Town leaders came up with the idea after seeing a spike in DUIs.

Users will be able to select a "safe ride" option on Uber's app and then the township will pay the fare.

THE DETAILS:

Evesham Township will fully pay for rides taken from select bars and restaurants within the Township to homes of Evesham residents, between the hours of 9pm and 2am, through January 2nd, 2016.

The Safe Ride option will be automatically enabled when riders request from one of the designated program locations.
