WILMINGTON, Del. -- Three Wilmington fire stations will be renamed after the firefighters who recently died in the line of duty.

Wilmington City Councilman Robert Wilson made the proposal last month.

The full council unanimously approved a resolution last night.

Senior Firefighter Ardythe Hope succumbed to her injuries last week.

Lieutenant Jerry Fickes and Captain Christopher Leach died on the day of the fire.

Council members also approved a resolution to ask the state for 300-thousand-dollars to keep Fire Station 6 open when staffing is short.
