NFL PRESEASON: Eagles fans excited for football season

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The migration back to Lincoln Financial Field is one Eagles fans look forward to each year.

Thursday was no exception as scores of fans made their way to the Linc for a preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.

Around the parking lot the Eagles chant could be heard far and wide.

The tailgate tradition arguably as important as the game itself.

It's where you can find fans of all ages, including some die hard birds fans, like self-proclaimed Eagles number one fan, Monty G.

"I waited all summer, all winter, every year all season long and I could not wait. Today's the day, it gets started, I'm hyped, I'm amped, I just ready to see something happen baby, I'm ready to see them on the field," he said.

Some have been here before, and are now trying to pass on the tradition to the next generation, like Steve Royer who brought his infant son to the game.

"Looking forward to getting back out here, looking forward to his first game, and we're going to have some fun tonight," he said.

As far the expectation for the season ahead, fans say there is no raining on this parade.

"Super Bowl--I am almost positive that we can make it," said Steven Engles from West Deptford, New Jersey.

"Super Bowl or bust. That's all it is," added Kerry Johnson from Wilmington, Delaware.

Some fans, said yes, Super Bowl, but believe the Birds will go undefeated in the regular season.

"Better than they did the Super Bowl," said Jennifer Rodriguez from Woodbine, New Jersey.

The day was not all positive. Eagles backup quarterback Nate Sudfeld left the sideline on a cart after injuring his left arm on a late hit in the second quarter of Philadelphia's game against Tennessee. Coach Doug Pederson said he suffered a broken wrist.

Sudfeld fell backward after a personal foul by Isaiah Mack and immediately went to the sideline. He was wearing an air cast on the cart ride to the locker room.

Sudfeld, who has thrown 25 passes in two seasons with the Eagles, is replacing Nick Foles as the backup quarterback. Foles, the Super Bowl MVP in Philadelphia's 41-33 win over New England in February 2018, signed an $88 million, four-year deal with Jacksonville in free agency.
