Officers rescue 2 men from burning apartment in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Three police officers rescued two men from a burning apartment building in North Philadelphia.

Flames broke out in the kitchen around 3:00 a.m. Saturday on the 500 block of West Diamond Street.

Fire crews contained the blaze to the kitchen and quickly doused the flames.

The two victims were overcome by smoke. They were taken to Temple University Hospital.

The men are expected to be okay.

So far, there is no word on what sparked the blaze.
