PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 21-year-old man is admitting to his role in the robbery and murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Moses Walker Jr.

Chancier McFarland pleaded guilty Thursday to the 2012 killing of Ofc. Walker.

The shooting happened during a holdup in North Philadelphia in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 18th, while Walker was off-duty, going home from his shift.

McFarland agreed to testify against a second suspect, Rafael Jones, who prosecutors say was the triggerman.

In exchange for the plea deal, McFarland is expected to avoid a life sentence. Jones is still facing the death penalty.
