CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Those living and working in Philadelphia's western suburbs are preparing for big changes when Pope Francis comes to town next month.

That's because major highways through Philadelphia, along with large sections of the city, will be shut down for the papal visit.

In Conshohocken, businesses are preparing for extra traffic as drivers look to get around the closures.

"If you expect it and prepare for it, it shouldn't be as big as an issue for you," said Caesar Carter of American Royalty Cigars.

Carter says he expects a lot of people will use Fayette Street as a cut through when Interstate 76 closes on the evening of Friday, September 25th.

But even with all that extra traffic, he isn't sure what that will mean for business.

"I don't know what to expect because I've never been in this type of situation. I'm just hoping for the best," Carter said.

At Tradestone Cafe, they're hoping the packed hotels nearby mean extra people through their doors.

"We are definitely bulking up on everything. We are kind of right in the middle of Fayette Street, and there are not many things after the exit, so we are planning on a lot of foot traffic," said Hilary Hamilton.

Those who live in the area are also getting ready.

"Going to have to ride a bicycle," said David Rosenburg. But Jackie Rosenburg said "We might avoid it. I'm not riding a bicycle."

Patty Rush's 9-week-old baby girl isn't ready to be stuck in traffic, and she isn't ready to test the patience of her newborn in the car.

"We don't take any long road trips, or stay in the car any longer than we have to, so we'll probably just stay home," she said.
