Survey: Parents expecting too much from toddlers

PHILADELPHIA -- Are you expecting too much from your toddler? A national survey says when it comes to tantrums - the answer is yes.

The childhood resource group Zero to Three says most parents surveyed say they overestimate their kids' ability for self-control.

It's called the "expectation gap."

We don't know why toddlers sometimes just can't get it together. But they suggest the answer is simply because sometimes, they just can't.

They laid out an interesting set of guidelines to let parents know what to expect.

Kids usually don't develop self control, emotional control or sharing skills until they are around 3 and a half to 4-years-old, and of course, every kid is different.

The takeaway? Give your kid a break.
