PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Delaware River Port Authority will ask the federal government for money to reopen a station that's been closed for decades.

Franklin Square Station would be the first stop over the Ben Franklin Bridge for anyone riding PATCO from New Jersey.

It closed in 1979, and its been abandoned ever since. But riders still pass by it, and the dim lighting has brought it the nickname "Ghost Station".

A DRPA study found 1,300 people would use it each day if it reopened.
