LANSDOWNE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Delaware County school leaders are celebrating a big win in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
The decision by the state's highest court restores a lawsuit first brought by the William Penn School District.
The lawsuit argued that the state relied too heavily on property taxes to fund schools and that it doesn't meet school's needs.
The landmark ruling in William Penn School District versus the Pennsylvania Department of Education is seen as a victory for struggling school districts.
Students, community leaders and their allies gathered at Penn Wood High School in Lansdowne Wednesday morning to celebrate.
