Folks in the Delaware Valley shop for Thanksgiving dinner
Folks in the Delaware Valley shop for Thanksgiving dinner. Vernon Odom reports during Action News at 5 p.m. on November 22, 2017.

A lot people are waiting until Wednesday to get items for their Thanksgiving Dinners.

The general mood is great at supermarkets Action News visited as last minute food shoppers gather up the ingredients for Thursday's traditional turkey day dinners with family and friends at the Acme Market in Bryn Mawr.

Bonnie Capalla of Havertown is cooking her first dinner for 10 people. It was her third trip back to the supermarket since Saturday.

At supermarkets in the city, the atmosphere we found was a bit more intense as folks crowd the checkout lines to make sure they have all the goodies for those coming over tomorrow to stuff themselves and to give thanks for their blessings.

Celine McQueen of Strawberry Mansion and Amari Douglas of Wynnefield stood in line buying the traditional foods. Of course the turkey, fish, chicken, roast beef and ingredients for mac and cheese and other dishes.

Back in the suburbs, a grandmother raised in Italy is preparing the traditional Italian Wedding soup dish for her family.

And somehow those dinners all come together even with the last minute shopping.
