Delco K9 officer helps Crimes Against Children Task Force
MEDIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- The Delaware County District Attorney wants to remind everyone about internet safety, and introduce the community to an adorable officer.
K9 Charlie is a 3-year-old yellow lab who is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Detectives who are part of that team are dedicated solely to solving online crimes, including finding child predators.
As you can imagine, Charlie plays a unique role.
"She helps us find electronic devices, specifically for example sim cards, which child predators often times hide the evidence of their crimes," says Kat Copeland, Delaware County District Attorney.
Charlie can find pieces of electronics that are the size of a finger nail. Copeland wants to remind parents that it's a good idea to make a list of house rules when it comes to using the internet so children don't mistakenly put themselves in dangerous situations online.
